IFOW work informs guidance from Welsh Government

The Welsh Government has published two resources to guide public sector use of AI and algorithmic management systems, both of which draw from and cite IFOW’s research.

Two resources have been published by the Welsh Government to guide public sector use of AI and algorithmic management systems, both of which draw from and cite IFOW’s research in the Pissarides Review, and the Good Work Algorithmic Impact Assessment that we published with support from the ICO’s grants programme, and is part of the best practice studies and guidance provided by the CDEI in the UK government.

These resources indicate how Wales’ adoption of the partnership approach we have long recommended - with a dedicated Minister and two Councils (Social Partnership and Workforce Partnership) – is advancing and becoming embedded in policy and practice.

Importantly, the reports highlight the importance of ongoing monitoring, regular surveys, work with academia, and building institutional capability. We are grateful to Ceri Williams from the TUC in Wales for helping to deliver this.
